André Malraux said that "it is therefore very interesting to question the artist on what he wanted to do, provided you know that his answer is not in his words, but in his paintings."

Obviously, this goes for the paintings of Monique, who expressed on canvas all the facets of the life of the moose. Why devote so much time painting wildlife? A quote from the great Victor Hugo offers a clue: “Art is the reflection that the human soul reflects, dazzled by the splendour of beauty.”
