Gisèle sometimes paints lost worlds, like this large painting presenting a vision of the Gaspé Peninsula before colonization... Did you know that the Chic-Choc Mountains were once home to thousands of caribou, wolves, and vast wildernesses? Today, all that remains are landscapes sparsely populated by wild animals, roamed by hikers and tourists, or given over to logging. Man exterminated the wolf over a hundred years ago. So did the wolverine. Currently, the fate of the last thirty mountain caribou hangs by a thread... Through the power of art, this artwork bears witness to a reality that is essential for understanding the current issues and developing a critical mindset regarding forest and wildlife management in Québec. This moving painting is available on fine art metal prints in two sizes.

The extermination of the wolf from the Gaspé Peninsula did not prevent the decline of the mountain caribou. Due to its historical significance and its relevance to current nature conservation issues, this original painting is part of a collection of missionary artworks exhibited at the Monique and Gisèle Benoit Centre in Sainte-Anne-des-Monts. This is a 20" x 46" (51 cm x 117 cm) oil on canvas.

Fine art prints to spread the beauties of art and nature

Each year, Monique and Gisèle allow the reproduction of a limited number of original paintings. They do this essentially to make the products derived from their art accessible to all budgets, and above all, to finance the educational projects of the Society of Art and Science for Nature (SAS Nature), the non-profit organization of which they are co-founders.
