A CHARMING ENCOUNTER

This painting shows how Gisèle immortalizes on canvas a scene she observed in nature, by adding her personal touch. This is the first time she has painted a red-backed vole. The warbler that bends down to discover the vole plays the role of the observer. It embodies Gisèle. The artist often projects herself into her paintings in the form of an animal subject. The result is a charming artwork where two species exchange a knowing look, the time of a wingbeat. The flowers create a bond between the bird and the small rodent. The first lands on them; the other savours them.
