When Gisèle met Babaloo in 2002, he was just a mischievous wolf pup, and exceptionally handsome. His rebellious and curious temperament, his remarkable intellectual qualities and his precocious sense of responsibility announced his extraordinary destiny. Unlike his siblings, he was unaware of fear. Babaloo was for Gisèle a key, a path, a revelation, a mentor, the password giving her access to the secret world of wolves.
This moving portrait of four-month-old Babaloo is filled with Gisèle's love and gratitude. These few words from the artist sum up well the depth of the eternal bond that unites them: “You are the strange shepherd, the healer, the gatherer, the teacher; the origin of the dog, man’s best friend. Thank you Babaloo, my White Cloud running in the Sky! May your shadow watch over me! Knowing you was a privilege, my friend.” Although their temporal paths have separated, the wolf and the artist still walk in the same direction.
You can admire Babaloo, his family and several other endearing animal characters by watching the wonderful web-series MA’IINGAN, IN THE LAND OF THE WOLF, on Gisèle’s YouTube channel. View the series
