Animal Behaviour

This painting shows an interesting behaviour of moose. After a few days spent in the company of two females, this majestic male leaves them in the hope of finding other partners with whom to mate and pass on his genes. The cow moose have been impregnated by the king and they watch him go away. They will not follow him... The setting sun adds a moving touch to their separation. Observe carefully the position of the ears of each of the subjects, including those of the male which are pointed backwards. This position testifies that the love bond is crumbling after the excitement of the lovemaking of the last few hours. A romantic scene as Gisèle knows how to render them so well!
