PAINTING HIS MAJESTY

This majestic bull moose comes straight from the kingdom of auroral mists and the memories that inhabited Monique at the time she painted him. Moose like open spaces where there is an abundance of young hardwoods that they feed on. Whether in Québec or in Ontario, the artist has long observed them in environments transformed by a forest fire or by human action. In this scene, the small ditch marks the border between a mature forest and a recent cut. The backlight effect gives a poetic character to the whole, making the arrival of the king of our forests almost supernatural.
