A dreamy vision that evokes the last great wildernesses of America! The simple life of a hermit living with his wolfdog, somewhere in the West… The many details of this scene mark the imagination: the golden larch trees, the landscape, the canoe, the axe stuck in a log, the earthen roof of the cabin, the antlers of the moose, certainly shot by this hunter-gatherer from another era... In fact, the hermit of Lake Sauvage and his wolfdog are ageless, because their story unfolds outside of time. They are part of the past as well as the future. Find out for yourself!

Gisèle rarely includes a human subject in her paintings. When she chooses to do so, it is always in a particular context. The hermit and his four-legged friend represented on this canvas are two of the main characters of a manuscript, which the artist hopes to publish within a few years. Gisèle's inspiration travels from words to colours, and from colours to words… The original of The Hermit of Lake Sauvage is regularly exhibited at the Monique and Gisèle Benoit Centre in Sainte-Anne-des-Monts, where it arouses the admiration of visitors. This oil is part of the artist's personal collection. Its size is 24" x 48" (61 cm x 122 cm).

Fine art prints to spread the beauties of art and nature

Each year, Monique and Gisèle allow the reproduction of a limited number of original paintings. They do this essentially to make the products derived from their art accessible to all budgets, and above all, to finance the educational projects of the Society of Art and Science for Nature (SAS Nature), the non-profit organization of which they are co-founders.
