The term giclée is the generic term used to characterize an art print made on a high-definition, large-format inkjet printer. This word perfectly describes the technique used to deposit the ink in the form of fine droplets diffused by inkjet printers.
The printing of a giclée can be realized on different supports such as an artist’s canvas, fine art paper, etc. The size and the proof number of a limited edition print are established beforehand by the publisher, but the artist must approve the first proof before the printing begins. Each copy is signed and numbered by the artist.
A certificate of authenticity is issued for each giclée fine art print.
Today, giclée defines a painting’s digital reproduction, of a very high quality.
Photolithography involves a traditional printing process based on colour separation: four-colour offset lithographic printing. A photolithography can be produced from the photograph of a painting. The size and the proof number of a limited edition print are established beforehand by the publisher, but the artist must approve the first proof out of the presses before the printing begins. Each copy is signed and numbered by the artist.
Four-colour offset lithographic printing is a much less expensive process than that of giclée, but photolithography remains a reproduction of quality artwork.
We offer some of our photolithographies laminated and framed. During this process, the photolithography is glued and laminated on a support (masonite). No more passe-partout and glass weighing down the frame! A thin film protects the print from scratches and light, thus ensuring better preservation. It is offered with a single model of frame.
